Effective October 9, 2026
Privacy policy
Dranks is built to keep your information with you. There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party services in the app.
What stays on your devices and in your iCloud
Your bar, shopping list, saved drinks, drinks you create and recent searches are stored on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, they sync between your devices through Apple's iCloud (your private CloudKit database). We can't see this data.
Ratings you choose to share
If you rate a drink, your star rating and any text you write are stored in Dranks' public iCloud database so other people can see them. Each rating is tied to an anonymous identifier Apple's CloudKit assigns to your iCloud account for this app; it does not include your name, email or Apple Account details. You can delete your rating in the app at any time: open the drink and tap Delete my rating. Reported ratings may be reviewed and removed.
Drinks you share
When you tap Share recipe card or Copy recipe for a drink you made, Dranks saves a copy of that recipe in its public iCloud database under a short code, so the link can show the drink to anyone who has it, with or without the app. Just opening Share saves nothing. The copy holds the recipe and is tied to the same anonymous identifier as your ratings; it does not include your name. Editing the drink and sharing it again makes a new link; an older link keeps showing the older version. Deleting the drink in Dranks deletes every copy you shared (if you're offline, as soon as you're back online). Anyone with the link can read what a shared drink says, so leave personal details out of it. If you share while offline, the recipe travels inside the link itself instead, and goes only where you send it. Built-in drinks are shared as links to their pages on this site, which hold nothing about you. Anyone can report a shared drink from its page or in the app; reported shared drinks may be removed.
Purchases
The optional Prohibition purchase is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes payment; we never receive your payment details.
Our websites
This site has no analytics, sets no cookies and loads everything, fonts included, from itself. Our hosting provider, Vercel, handles each visit and may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for a short time for security and reliability.
Links to drinks open on theroadeldorado.github.io. Those pages have no analytics and set no cookies of their own. The page for a drink someone shared loads Apple's CloudKit JS from Apple's servers to read that one drink from Dranks' public iCloud database, so Apple sees that visit's IP address, as any site you load does.
Children
Dranks is about alcoholic drinks and is intended only for adults of legal drinking age. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
